I recently tried Mizz JuJu’s Cafe for the first time, and it’s definitely a spot that stays busy. When I arrived, it was very crowded with people inside and even standing outside. Parking is limited, so just be prepared—especially on a busy day. The restaurant is inside a bar, which adds to the lively atmosphere. I ordered the catfish, baked beans, mac & cheese, and a dinner roll. My total came out to around $27 with gratuity already included. The second time I had the yams and cabbage. The catfish was the standout—seasoned and fried perfectly. The mac & cheese was pretty good, and the baked beans and yams were just okay. Cabbage and cornbread was yummy! One thing to note: it’s a little hard to find consistent information online. I couldn’t locate a menu or hours or working phone number, but I did learn they update everything on Instagram, and it seems like the menu changes daily. From what I gathered, they’re open later on weekends—possibly until 11 or 12. Even with a few minor inconveniences, I’ve already been back—and that says a lot. They’re especially known for their oxtails, which I haven’t tried yet, but I’m definitely looking forward to. Overall, it’s a solid spot with flavorful food and a strong local following. Just come prepared for the crowd and check Instagram before you go. @mizzjujus instagram.
If you’re craving true soul food, this is the place to go! Every bite tasted like it was made with love and generations of tradition. The oxtails were perfectly seasoned and moist, the mac and cheese was creamy and rich, and the collard greens were cooked just right. The cornbread was warm and buttery—just like grandma used to make! A little sweet, which was perfect! The service was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere made me feel right at home. You can tell the cooks take pride in their food and care about their customers. I left full, happy, and already planning my next visit. Highly recommend for anyone who loves authentic, homestyle cooking!
Soul food is exactly what you’ll get here. Some of the best fried catfish I’ve eaten. Green Beans were seasoned to perfection. I will definitely visit again when I’m back in Huntsville.
